Photo Collage-Final

Original Collage

Original Post-

The inspiration behind this collage is similar to that of this blog. A journal of sorts to chronicle my life and travels while also focusing on art and perspective. The images shown in this collage have all been taken within the last few months and document not only my travels but shows the emotions I experienced. The first image which is the background for this photo was taken in Paris at Place de Vosges, a picturesque park. I felt as if I was in my best life while in Paris and I wanted that feeling to carry over to this collage. Because of this I also included a back image of a Paris street in the Marais neighborhood. The front duplicated photo is from my Pisa, Italy. I purposefully left the blue between my hair to connect with the blue sky. The last photo is a peek at a bench in Florence, Italy that not only had designs etched into it but love notes. When it came to placement I knew that duality was something I wanted to highlight. This is because I began my time abroad as one person and emerged as a different person in the end. I wanted that duality to be the main aspect of the collage, which is why I implemented it twice. Duality is also shown with an additional circle cut out of the leaves and the trees. All the cutouts in the picture are circular and are similar to the main photos in color. I wanted this collage to look similar to a pattern that you would make in photoshop, it reminds me of camouflage. I could say that I was inspired by a pattern that I created for a line that was altered from WGSN(https://www.wgsn.com/library/results/435e1cf6777afda44952d66be5808676/camouflage). Unfortunately, I can no longer find the original pattern but below is the pattern that I created inspired by the images I found on WGSN.

All the cutouts in the picture are circular and balance the collage. I wanted this collage to look similar to a pattern that you would make in photoshop, it reminds me of camouflage. I could say that I was inspired by a pattern that I created for a line that I altered from WGSN. Unfortunately, I can no longer find the original pattern but below is the pattern that I created inspired by the images I found on WGSN. When I decided to revise the photo, I knew that I didn’t want to stray too much from my original concept, but simply expound upon it. The first thing I did was to straighten the image of the street in Paris as suggested in my critiques. I also rotated the tree cutout more to try to show the differences. I attempted to find more photos of the bench but was unsuccessful. Due to this, I rotated it so that more text was visible. Next, I added a photo of Piazzale Michelangelo which is one of the only places in Florence that you can see the whole city. This image is at sunset and includes the replica of David. When I took this picture, on my last day in Italy, I captioned it solemn because that is the only emotion I could identify at the time. I found that this balanced the blue tones shown in other areas of the photo. Overall, I am happy with the result of the photo and love the message it conveys.
